SNOWBIRD FREEDOM TOUR

Baja 2000 mile caravan to Los Barriles and Back

DEPARTURE DATE: JAN. 07, 2018

 

Jan. 07: Rancho Sordo Mudo RV Park. Cross the border at Tecate, BC and drive south through Baja’s Wine Country. We will be camping at an RV park that is run by a school for the hearing and speaking impaired. We will visit the Wine Museum of Northern Baja. After which we will set up camp and relax. Those who wish may take their tow vehicles and ride share to the L.A. Cetto winery for wine tasting. This evening we will enjoy a pot-luck dinner, Baja Winters will provide rotisserie chicken. Full hook-ups.

Jan. 08: El Pabellón. Camp on a beautiful Pacific Ocean beach. Get to know each other with Margaritas and tamales (furnished by BAJA WINTERS) and pot-luck dinner. DRY camp.

Full hook-ups, limited availability, small extra fee.

4 hour drive

 

Jan. 09: Cataviña. Drive to a mountain 'ranch' arrive early to enjoy, hiking, cave painting tour and relaxing, we will experience an original Mexican ‘bunk-house’ dinner (optional). Bring your plates and utensils. You may bring your own wine if you choose. Dry Camp

3 hour drive.

 

Jan. 10: San Ignacio. Next camp is at the first oasis that we will encounter in Baja. Prior to our next day’s departure we will explore the town and the most photographed mission church in Baja. Full hook-ups, WiFi available*.

4 hour drive.

 

Jan. 11 & 12: Bahía de Concepción. Dry camp on a beautiful white sand beach with turquoise water similar to the Bahamas, in Bahía de Concepción. Baja Beach Party: beer & wine and barbequed chicken furnished by Baja Winters. Each rig to bring a pot-luck dish. Dry Camp

4 hour drive.

 

Jan. 13 & 14: Loreto. RV Park with full hook-ups. Visit historic mission and stroll the unique shopping 'mall'. For those who want to experience an off-road trip, we will journey to the mountain town of San Javier and visit its historic mission and enjoy an authentic Mexican lunch.

Jan. 16: Los Barriles. We head south through the city of La Paz, BCS to Los Barriles.

The town of Los Barriles will be your ‘jumping-off’ point to travel to the RV Park you have made reservations with for your ‘Freedom-Time’.

RETURN SCHEDULE

 

Feb. 15: Rendezvous in Mulegé. We will meet you at the Pemex gas station south of the town of Mulegé. We will depart from the Pemex at 8:00 a.m.

 

Feb. 15 & 16: Guerrero Negro. We are camping in Guerrero Negro for 2 nights in order to go whale watching. Here we will be able to enjoy one of the best seafood restaurants in Baja.

RV Park has full hook-ups, WiFi available*.

Feb. 17: El Pabellon. Camp on the beach. Dry camping. Full hook-ups for an extra fee.

6 hour drive

 

Feb. 18: Santo Tomas Vineyard & Winery. We will dry-camp in the vineyard and go on a unique tour of the vineyard and enjoy “sensory wine tasting”. Wine tasting optional. Dry Camping

3 hour drive

 

Feb 19: Cross the border at Tecate, BC. Adios! Time to say good-by. We will be crossing the border at Tecate, BC. You will have time to get to your camping destinations in the U.S.A.

Today's travel time approximately 4 hrs. plus a 1 hr. wait at the border. About 110 miles.

This is your time to experience and enjoy the reason you chose to come to Baja. You can RELAX and ENJOY the people, their customs and WEATHER. AVOID packing up and MOVING to a new campground every day or two.

FEB 03 THRU FEB 19 - FREEDOM TIME! (see below)

Jan. 27: Sun. Day 1 ~ Rancho Sordo Mudo RV Park. Cross the border at Tecate, BC and drive south through Baja’s Wine Country. We will be camping tonight at an RV park that is run by a school for the hearing and speaking impaired. Donations to the school are appreciated. Click here to see the list of items currently needed. We will visit the Wine Museum of Northern Baja. After which we will set up camp. We will take our tow vehicles and ride share to the Adobe winery for lunch & wine tasting, paid for by BAJA WINTERS. This evening enjoy eating dinner in your rigs and getting to know your new caravan friends.

Jan. 28: Mon. Day ~ 2 El Pabellón. Camp on a beautiful Pacific Ocean beach. Get to know each other with Margaritas and tamales (furnished by BAJA WINTERS) and potluck dinner. WiFi available*.
Dry camp. Full hook-ups, limited availability, and small extra fee. - 4 hour drive
 Jan. 29: Tues. Day 3 ~ Cataviña. Drive to a mountain 'ranch' arrive early to enjoy, hiking, cave painting tour and relaxing, we will experience an original Mexican ‘bunk-house’ dinner, the tour and dinner paid for by BAJA WINTERS. Bring your plates and utensils. You may bring your own wine if you choose.
Dry Camp - 3 hour drive.
 Jan. 30: Wed. Day 4 ~ San Ignacio. Next camp is at the first oasis that we will encounter in Baja. Prior to our next day’s departure we will explore the town and the most photographed mission church in Baja.WiFi available*.

 Jan. 31 & Feb 01:Thurs. & Fri Days 5 & 6 ~ Bahía de Concepción. After visiting San Ignacio we will travel to Santispac Beach. Dry camp on a beautiful white sand beach with turquoise water similar to the Bahamas, in Bahía de Concepción.
Dry Camp - 4 hour drive.
Feb 02: Sat. Day 7 ~ Loreto. RV Park with full hook-ups. Visit historic mission and stroll the unique shopping 'mall'. For those who want to experience out of the way day trip, we will journey to the mountain town of San Javier and visit its historic mission and enjoy an authentic Mexican lunch. WiFi available*.

 Feb 22: Thurs. Day 27 ~ El Pabellón. Camp on the beach. Tonight we will experience an authentic “clam-cookout” on the beach, provided by BAJA WINTERS. WiFi available*
Dry camping. Full hook-ups for an extra fee. 3 hour drive
 Feb. 23: Fri. Day 28 ~ Santo Tomás Vineyard & Winery. We will dry-camp in the vineyard and go on a unique tour of the vineyard and enjoy “sensory wine tasting”. Wine tasting optional. This is your first opportunity to buy Baja Wine to take home to friends and family.
Dry Camping - 3 hour drive
 Feb 24: Sat. Day 29 ~ Sordo Mudo. We will be returning to Sordo Mudo. After we set up camp we will visit Mexico’s largest winery. Here we will take a tour of the wine making facilities and have private wine tasting experience, paid for by BAJA WINTERS. This is your second opportunity to buy Baja Wine for your enjoyment or for friends and family
