TRIP DETAILS AND ITINERARY
It’s November…it’s getting cold up north! Why not head to Baja and enjoy warm beaches and a stress free Thanksgiving holiday.
Your adventure will start after we meet up in Calexico at a nice RV park for a pre departure meeting. We will also exchange dollars for some pesos and get visas prior to crossing. If you can meet a couple days ahead it’s better, but one day ahead will work out.
Crossing into Mexico at Mexicali will be followed by an easy 138 miles to San Felipe where we will camp at a full hookup park on the beach. You will have the afternoon to explore San Felipe or just enjoy the beach. Enjoy the great restaurant/beach bar on site or head into town for dinner. Next up is a quick trip to Bahia Gonzaga as it is only 99 miles south. This will be a boondocking camp (no hookups) with shared large palapas. Cook in your rig tonight as there isn’t much here except an awesome beach camp and an OK market.
We will be up early the next day as it is a big driving day to San Ignacio a desert oasis. (239 miles and 5 1/2 hours + fuel and stops) Here you can visit the most photographed Mission in Baja and enjoy dinner on your own in the town square, or in your rig.
A short but exciting 99 mile drive will take us to Playa Santispac our southernmost destination where we will boondock for 3 days. A good restaurant bar on site there means you don’t even have to cook. No Cell, No WiFi, nothing but the beach to enjoy or the nearby town of Mulege to explore.
On the return trip we will stop in Guerrero Negro, then again at Bahia Gonzaga for a Thanksgiving Potluck. In the morning we will have a short drive to San Felipe for two more nights. We love San Felipe. After an early departure for the border we cross back to the US at Calexico.
Round up your RV friends and let’s roll to Baja for Thanksgiving on the beach!
